Team StarKid at StarKid Homecoming

StarKid was first created in a small theater at the University of Michigan in 2009. Their first musical was a parody musical of Harry Potter called A Very Potter Musical, which was professionally recorded and posted to YouTube by the StarKid members. StarKid started as a relatively small team that grew larger throughout the years. Who would've thought they'd be so successful?

"The future of musical theater" -The Chicago Tribune

Over the last ten years, StarKid has been creating these musicals and posting them to YouTube. They have successfully produced 11 full-length shows such as Holy Musical Batman, Ani, and Starship. They have also performed in a few concert shows like Apocalyptour, The Space Tour, and StarKid Homecoming.

This year is what StarKid is calling their 10niversary. StarKid has officially been in business for ten years and they celebrated with a concert they called "StarKid Homecoming." They everything from their posters to their stage to look like a cliché homecoming dance. The cast even took pictures as if they were teens at homecoming, and someone walked over to them and asked, "can I get your picture for the yearbook?" In this show, they bring back as many StarKid members as possible and sing many of the songs that the fans know and love. The DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download of the show and it's album will be available to fans later this year.

Black Friday is StarKid's newest horror-comedy musical in the works. "When the holiday season's hottest new toy, Tickle-Me Wiggly, hits the shelves, the city of Hatchetfield goes mad for it, literally." The characters "must fight through a sea of murderous mall-goers to save humanity from an inter dimensional being with a taste for chaos" (StarKid Productions). Black Friday opens October 31, and the show will close December 8. It is rumored that Black Friday will likely be a sequel to StarKid's previous show, The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, due to the mention of "a few familiar faces" in the description of Black Friday. It is also believed to be connected to The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals because they are set in the same town, Hatchetfield.

Though StarKid is currently based in Los Angeles, it seems to be growing in popularity with many fans around the world. StarKid brings something new to the table when it comes to musical theatre. The cast and creative team seem to have a lot of fun working on and performing in the musicals. StarKid has been producing shows for ten years now, and hopefully many more.
