How did "Six: The Musical" become so popular? "Six" is a pop musical about King Henry VIII's six wives, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. This musical uses a modern tone to get through their message of woman empowerment.

"Six" started as just a West End and UK tour production in December of 2017, but last month they announced that they're going on a US tour and Broadway in 2020. That's fast for a new musical. So that raises the question, how did it become so popular?

There are many reasons why people enjoy "Six" so much, starting with the music. It is fun, upbeat, and gives the musical a modern vibe to it. Each one of Henry's wives gets a song with its own style. Where Boleyn's Song "Don't Lose Your Head" is upbeat and energetic, Seymour's "Heart of Stone" is more slow-paced and emotional. The creators of "Six" also recently released a Sing-A-Long instrumental album so that fans can sing like their favorite queens.

Another compelling thing about the musical is the costumes and set. With the modernized clothes and pop-star-esque stage design, the musical is more appealing to the teenage audience. Each queen has unique costumes with different colors and styles.

Other people may like "Six" because of the woman empowerment aspect of the musical. The musical shows how strong these women truly were and how they were really important in history. You especially see this in the songs "Ex-Wives" and "Six."

The actresses themselves are a reason to like "Six." Though I haven't seen Six live, I have heard that the actresses are very interactive with the audience. They also do a song at the end of every show called "Megasix" where they mash-up their songs and encourage the audience to sing and dance with them.

I have asked a few "Six" fans on Instagram what they like about "Six." Here are a few of their responses:

"Six is an empowering musical. When these women who history barely recognizes get what they deserve. It boosts my own confidence a bit." - @slytherinn_girl_217

"Throws SERIOUS shade that I adore" - @oliviaschaefer8

"History textbooks are very exclusive and only tell one side of the story. Six shows the others" - @sophiemd127

"It's a great show because people see the other sides of the story of King Henry the 8th" - @ian.kirsch

"I like six because it gives a unique view of history with an amazing cast and fantastic songs" - @a.manda_c.arroll

"It's very empowering for young girls and also historically is just so important and wonderful." - @quinnhammond23

"It combines all different styles of pop (Janet Jackson, Britney, etc)" - @earl_of_fanwich

"It shows strong women empowerment" - @_xxbartram.oliviaxx_

In conclusion, the reason that "Six: The Musical" is so popular is because it has something for everyone. Every fan has a different reason to like the musical. The modernized feel attracts more people and makes the story easier to understand.
